Preserving-Restoring-Reconnecting-Sustaining!
"Arizona's trout streams and native and non-native fish are a unique and fragile part of Arizona's world-renowned scenic beauty and natural wonders. The Arizona State Council of Trout Unlimited and the Trout Unlimited chapters throughout the state seek to conserve and protect Arizona's trout and trout fisheries for the enjoyment of future generations."

                          Jim Stipe, Past Chairman
Arizona State Council of Trout Unlimited

"Arizona State Council of Trout Unlimited, and chapters will continue to work towards preserving, restoring, reconnecting, and sustaining all cold water fisheries for native trout and wild trout in Arizona, so that anglers in Arizona can continue to have great cold water fisheries. We will have many challenges and issues coming up. Contact us on how you can get involved to see these visions materialize in the future."

Salazar Extends Mining Moratorium Near Grand Canyon
UPDATE - January 9, 2012 - Carrying through on plans announced by Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar at Grand Canyon National Park on June 20, 2011, the Obama adminstration announced today a 20-year ban on new uranium mining claims on more than 1 million acres of land near the Grand Canyon.

According to the most recent U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service survey (2006), 1.5 million people participate in hunting, fishing, and wildlife-watching in Arizona each year, contributing $2.1 billion to the state economy.

"The rush to provide economic development will be short-lived compared to the hundreds of years, or for eternity, when watersheds are polluted for everyone and no remediation is possible," said Jim Walker of the Arizona Council of Trout Unlimited.
